Raysa Bloom (as she is now known) is the author sixteen novels and has received many accolades for her writing, including an American Library Association award and honors from the International Literacy Association's Notable Books for Global Society. She's received starred reviews from Kirkus, PW, and Booklist as well as having her books on many state lists. 

Raysa was born in Brooklyn but spent most of her childhood in rural upstate New York.  What she loved most was to wander in the woods pretending she lived in another time.

In 1972, Hannah is living in a hippie commune in upstate New York, stuck in an abusive relationship and a life that looks nothing like the one she imagined for herself. Sent to Manhattan to ask her wealthy mother for money, she is waiting for a train when a man across the tracks catches her eye. For some reason, neither of them looks away. Then he raises his camera. Hannah stares straight into the lens.

In 2026, Toby is newly divorced, unemployed, and sleeping in his old college roommate’s apartment on the Upper West Side. Late for an interview, he spots a woman on the opposite platform and is instantly drawn to her. On impulse, he lifts his old Nikon and takes her picture.

But beneath the streets of New York, the usual laws of time no longer seem to apply, pulling Hannah and Toby into each other’s worlds and toward a love neither thought possible. And as they try to understand what is happening to them, another mystery emerges: Kiel, an elusive graffiti artist who somehow appears in both of their worlds, leaving behind the same strange tag—a circle within a circle, a wheel within a wheel.
